President of The Open University Announces new Doctorate Program

Dear Friends,
I am glad and moved to inform you that the Council for Higher Education today authorized the Open University to open a doctoral program in Education: Technologies and Learning Systems.
This is a historical achievement for us – for the first time since the Open University’s establishment, we will award a doctorate!
We have been given this authorization due to our outstanding status and our researchers’ many achievements in research in this field. The doctoral program is the natural continuation of our master’s program in Education: Technologies and Learning Systems, which opened in 2004 and has trained successful academics. The doctoral program is intended for academics and professionals of the first order.
The Open University specializes in developing distance teaching methods and learning strategies, which have proved their great effectiveness over the years and especially during the COVID-19 period during which we became a beacon of distance teaching and learning. The doctoral program that was approved today is part of the strategic plan led by the Open University with the aim of being a national center in the field of distance teaching and learning.
I want to thank the members of the teaching faculty and the administrative staff for working to carry out high-quality teaching and significant learning over the years. Thanks to you, students from throughout Israel and the world have acquired higher education, tools and knowledge that will serve them as a key to success in their personal and professional lives.
I thank all of the senior faculty members who continue their research at the highest level and who received many compliments and much praise from the international committee that examined the program. Due to their achievements, we will be able to establish generations of excellent researchers in the coming years.
