Executive Director of Development

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning
    • Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan aligned with the goals and priorities of the Open University
    • Collaborate with the AFOUI Chair/Board and OUI Head of Resource Development to set fundraising targets and key performance indicators
  • Gifts and Donor Relations
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, philanthropic foundations, and corporate partners in conjunction with AFOUI Chair/Board
    • Identify and pursue opportunities for small, medium, and major gifts, endowments, and named scholarships
  • Event Planning
    • Organize and manage fundraising events, small parlor meetings, exclusive charity events, and donor receptions to engage and cultivate prospective donors
    • Coordinate with OUI team to bring OUI leadership and faculty to US donor meetings and events, and to bring to Israel / OUI key US donors and prospects
  • Campaign Management
    • Lead and oversee fundraising campaigns, ensuring effective coordination of activities and messaging
    • Work with the OUI team to prepare compelling and persuasive fundraising materials to support campaign initiatives
  • Prospect Research
    • Conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential donors
    • Develop and maintain a portfolio of prospective donors for cultivation and solicitation
  • Communication
    • Liaise with the OUI team to ensure regular newsletters, information updates and social media news are sent to current and prospective donors

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates who have studied public relations, communications, English, or business are at an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
    • Minimum of 5-10 years of fundraising experience, and a proven track record of successful fundraising, particularly in major gifts and campaigns
    • Strong knowledge of Israel and the Jewish World in North America. Hebrew speaker a plus

Location and Compensation

  • Preferably based in metro-NYC, working remotely, periodic travel required
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
